This Week at Barrels & Boards: A Menu Worth Making Plans For

There are weeks when the kitchen plays it safe, and then there are weeks like this one — when the chef clearly had something to prove. This week's specials at Barrels & Boards run the full spectrum, from delicate and coastal to rich and slow-cooked to downright showstopping. Whatever kind of night you're in the mood for, there's a plate on this list built for it.

Pan-Roasted Branzino, Saffron Citrus Butter

We start light, bright, and just a little bit elegant. Our pan-roasted branzino comes to the table with skin crisped to a perfect shatter, resting atop a bed of lemon-herb pearl couscous that soaks up every bit of flavor around it. Charred broccolini and roasted baby carrots bring smoky depth, while blistered heirloom tomatoes and shaved watermelon radish add color and a clean, refreshing bite. The whole dish is finished with a saffron-citrus beurre blanc — silky, fragrant, and just acidic enough to make every forkful feel new — plus crispy leeks and microgreens for texture on top. It's coastal cooking with real finesse, and it's easily one of the most refreshing plates we've put out all season. $44

Braised Veal Osso Buco, Black Garlic Demi

If the branzino is a bright afternoon, this is a candlelit evening. Our braised bone-in veal shank spends hours cooking low and slow until the meat is fork-tender and deeply flavorful, then it's set over a bed of Parmesan-mascarpone polenta so creamy it borders on decadent. Glazed baby carrots, cipollini onions, and roasted wild mushrooms round out the plate with earthy sweetness, and it's all brought together with a black garlic–red wine demi-glace that's rich, savory, and just a little bit smoky. Crispy shallots and microgreens finish things off with a welcome bit of crunch. This is the kind of dish you order when you want dinner to feel like an occasion. $49

32 oz. Prime Bone-In Tomahawk Ribeye

And then there's the one everyone's been asking about. Our 32-ounce Prime bone-in tomahawk ribeye is exactly the showstopper it sounds like — hand-cut in-house, richly marbled, and chargrilled to your exact preference. It's finished simply with our house steak garlic butter, because a cut of beef this good doesn't need much else to shine. Order it for the table, order it to celebrate something, or order it just because you can. Either way, come hungry. $105

From the Bar

No great meal is complete without something worth sipping alongside it, and our bar team has a few new pours to match the menu's energy.

  • Strawberry Sarti Spritz — $15 — Sarti Rosa Aperitivo, muddled strawberry, and prosecco. Bright, bubbly, and dangerously easy to drink.

  • Honey Peach Bourbon Tea — $15 — High West Bourbon, peach, lemon, and iced tea, sweetened with honey. Smooth and a little Southern.

  • St. Michelle Riesling — $11 glass / $44 bottle — Crisp, aromatic, and a natural partner for the branzino.

  • Crue Brew Ultraviolet Blueberry Blonde Ale — $9 — A light, fruit-forward draught pour at 4.2% ABV.

  • Superlytes — $9 — A playful mix of fruit punch, lemon lime, blue chill, and orange for something a little different.
