Cozy Up to This Week's Features at Barrels & Boards
There's something about this time of year that makes us want to slow down, gather around a good table, and eat really, really well. Our kitchen clearly felt the same way, because this week's features are packed with fall comfort, a little bit of heat, and a few showstoppers we can't wait for you to try. Here's what's coming out of the kitchen and across the bar this week.
From the Kitchen
Starters
Maple-Chili Pork Belly & Jalapeño Cornbread Poppers — $19
If sweet, smoky, and spicy is your love language, start here. Golden jalapeño-cheddar cornbread poppers get topped with crispy maple-chili glazed pork belly, then layered with charred pineapple relish, smoked lime crema, and pickled jalapeños. A drizzle of hot honey, a sprinkle of scallions, and a dusting of Tajín finish things off. Every bite is a little party, and they're perfect for sharing (though we won't blame you if you don't).
Korean BBQ Steak Bao Buns — $19
Three pillowy steamed bao buns, each filled with Korean BBQ-glazed steak, crunchy sesame-kimchi slaw, and crispy onion strings. A swipe of gochujang-lime aioli brings the kick, and toasted sesame seeds, scallions, and a sweet soy reduction tie it all together. Soft, crunchy, savory, and just a touch sweet — these disappear fast.
Mains
14 oz Brined & Crispy-Fried Bone-In Pork Chop — $34
This is fall on a plate. We start with a thick-cut, bone-in pork chop, brine it for juiciness, then fry it until it's golden and crackling on the outside. It's served alongside a silky smoked sweet potato purée, crispy Brussels sprouts, and candied bacon, all finished with a maple-bourbon apple reduction. Cozy, hearty, and seriously satisfying.
28 oz Prime Cowboy Ribeye — Black Garlic & Bone Marrow — $81
Celebrating something? Or just really hungry? This one's for you. A 28 oz prime bone-in cowboy ribeye gets a rich coffee-porcini crust and is finished with black garlic bone marrow butter that melts right into every slice. On the side: crispy Parmesan polenta fries and maple-chili glazed baby carrots topped with toasted pumpkin seeds. Bring a friend — or don't. We won't tell.
Sweets
Blueberry Muffin & White Chocolate Bread Pudding — $14
Save room. Seriously. Our warm blueberry muffin bread pudding is baked with vanilla custard and studded with white chocolate chunks, then served with blueberry-bourbon compote, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, and a buttery streusel crumble. A warm butterscotch drizzle sends it over the top. It's like your favorite bakery muffin grew up and got a little fancy.
From the Bar
Fig-bout It — $16
Ketel One, Cointreau, our fig-blueberry infusion, vanilla, and lemon. Bright, fruity, and just a little bit luxe — a perfect partner for the bread pudding, if you ask us.
Smoky Bee — $15
Espolòn Reposado and Rosaluna Mezcal come together with rosemary, hot honey, pineapple, and lime. Smoky, herbal, sweet, and tangy all at once. Try it with the pork belly poppers and thank us later.
Chloe Merlot — $11 glass / $44 bottle
Smooth, approachable, and easy to love. A great pick to pour alongside the pork chop or the cowboy ribeye.
Amstel Light — $7
Crisp, clean, and easygoing at 3.5% ABV. Sometimes you just want a cold one, and that's always a good call.
